Gold Coast Airport to Brisbane: bus, train and road to Hendra

本指南仅提供英文版。 以下指南为英文。其中的价格、费用和规定均来自我们公布的条款。

简而言之

  • Gold Coast Airport has no train station. Take Translink bus 760 to Varsity Lakes station, about 32 minutes, then a Gold Coast line train north.[1][2]
  • For Hendra, stay on the train to Eagle Junction (about 68 minutes from Varsity Lakes on the weekday timetable), change to a Doomben train for two stops, and walk about 1.3 km.[3][5][8]
  • By road it's about 105 km, mostly on the Pacific and Gateway motorways: roughly 80 minutes without traffic.[6] Taxi ranks and app pick-up areas are at the terminal.[1]
  • Rentzy has no desk or delivery at either airport: you collect the car at 238 Nudgee Road, Hendra QLD 4011. Allow two and a half hours or more by public transport.
  • We're open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday. If you land late, book your pickup for the next open day.

What are the ways from Gold Coast Airport to Brisbane?

Gold Coast Airport sits at Bilinga, at the southern end of the Gold Coast, and has no train station.[1] To reach Brisbane you can take a bus and then a train, a pre-booked shuttle, or a taxi or rideshare. If you're picking up a Rentzy car, the destination is 238 Nudgee Road, Hendra QLD 4011, in Brisbane's inner north-east near Brisbane Airport.

Flying into Brisbane Airport instead is much closer to us: see Brisbane Airport to Rentzy in Hendra.

How do I get from Gold Coast Airport to Hendra by bus and train?

  1. Catch bus 760 to Varsity Lakes station. Route 760 runs between Tweed Heads and Robina via the airport and Varsity Lakes. On the day we checked, buses left the airport about every 30 minutes, and the 9:00am bus reached Varsity Lakes station at 9:32am.[2] Translink also runs route 777 from the airport, but it heads to Burleigh Heads for the G:link tram, not to the train.[1]
  2. Pay as you board. Translink buses and trains take a contactless debit or credit card, a go card or a go explore ticket.[4] The airport says you can buy or top up a go card at WHSmith in Domestic Arrivals.[1]
  3. Take a Gold Coast line train toward Brisbane and stay on to Eagle Junction. These trains run through the city and on to the Brisbane Airport stations, stopping at Eagle Junction on the way. On the weekday timetable effective 18 May 2026, the 9:06am from Varsity Lakes reaches Eagle Junction at 10:14am, and weekend trains leave Varsity Lakes every 30 minutes through the day.[3]
  4. Change at Eagle Junction to a train toward Doomben and ride two stops, through Clayfield, to Hendra: about five minutes on the T3 timetable. Doomben line trains run about every 30 minutes.[5]
  5. Walk to us. OpenStreetMap's walking route from Hendra station to 238 Nudgee Road is about 1.3 km, roughly 18 minutes.[8]

Add it up and the trip takes about two and a half hours, more if you just miss a connection. Translink notes that connections between trains, and between trains and buses, can't be guaranteed.[3] Check the whole journey in the Translink app on the day, and see getting to Hendra from the CBD for more on the last leg.

What about the Airtrain from the Gold Coast?

Translink describes Airtrain as running a direct express from Gold Coast stations to Brisbane Airport via the city, and suggests the tram to Helensvale station to connect with it.[4] That's useful for a connecting flight at Brisbane, but not for Hendra: you'd ride past Eagle Junction to the airport and come back. Airtrain is a separate operator, and transferring from Airtrain to another Translink service starts a new journey.[4]

How long is the drive from Gold Coast Airport to Brisbane?

OpenStreetMap's routing from the terminal to 238 Nudgee Road is about 105 km and roughly 80 minutes in free-flowing traffic. The route follows the Gold Coast Highway briefly, then the M1 Pacific Motorway north for about 77 km and the Gateway Motorway for about 17 km, leaving at Southern Cross Way for Kingsford Smith Drive and Nudgee Road.[6]

Expect it to take much longer at peak times and on holiday weekends. The Gateway Motorway is one of Brisbane's toll roads, with toll points along it,[7] so ask your driver whether tolls are added to the fare; our guide to the Gateway Motorway toll explains how it works. The drive the other way, from Brisbane to the coast, is covered in Brisbane to the Gold Coast by car.

Gold Coast Airport's taxi rank is at the southern end of the terminal near International Arrivals, across from Rydges; the main app pick-up zone is outside Domestic Arrivals, with other apps picking up near Departures.[1]

What if my flight lands outside Rentzy's hours?

Our hours are: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday. There are no after-hours pickups or returns. From Gold Coast Airport, allow at least two and a half hours from landing to reaching Hendra by bus and train, plus time for bags.

  • Landing in the afternoon: if the trip would get you to Hendra after closing, book your pickup for the next open day and stay on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane for the night.
  • Landing on a Saturday or Sunday: we're closed, so book your pickup for the next open day.
  • Book a pickup time you can make. A missed bus at the airport can push everything back half an hour.

Flying out of Gold Coast Airport after returning the car

Return the car to 238 Nudgee Road during opening hours, then make the same trip in reverse. Work back from your check-in time, not your departure, and allow for the walk, two trains and the bus.

Thinking of driving the rental to the airport instead? The terminal is in Queensland, but Tweed Heads, just south, is in New South Wales, and bus 760 runs through to it.[2] Rentzy has no set rules for trips out of Queensland yet. The rental terms need our written consent before the car leaves Queensland, so ask us first on 0414 427 760 or info@rentzy.com.au. The car also has to come back to Hendra, so a one-way drive to the airport doesn't work.
