The train is more frequent across the day; the bus saves the walk. If you're coming from the airport rather than the city, see our separate guide to getting from Brisbane Airport to Hendra.

Which train goes to Hendra, and how often?

Hendra is on the Doomben line, T3 on Translink's network. Doomben trains run through the inner-city stations, so you can board at Roma Street, Central or Fortitude Valley, and they stop at Bowen Hills, Albion, Wooloowin, Eagle Junction and Clayfield before Hendra. Ascot and Doomben are the last two stops after it.[1]

  • How often: on the weekday timetable we read (Monday 26 October 2026), trains toward Doomben left Central every 30 minutes, at 23 and 53 minutes past the hour, from 5:23am to 7:23pm.[1]
  • How long: Central to Hendra took 19 minutes; from Roma Street, allow about 23 minutes.[1]
  • Weekends: on Saturday 24 October the timetable showed one train an hour, from 7:23am to 7:23pm from Central.[1] Not every weekday pattern runs at weekends, so always check the date you're travelling.
  • Service changes: at the time of writing, Translink's T3 page shows a reduced train timetable notice in place since 5 May 2026, with extra weekday services added on 12 October, and an upcoming weekend track closure on inner-city lines from 7 November 2026.[2]

Timetables change. Check the T3 timetable or Translink's journey planner for your date before you set off.

How do I walk from Hendra station to the yard?

OpenStreetMap's walking directions from Hendra station to 238 Nudgee Road come to about 1.35 km, roughly a quarter of an hour at an easy pace.[4]

  1. Leave the station on the Chermside Street side and turn onto Zillman Road for a short stretch.[4]
  2. Turn onto Manson Road, the long straight section of the walk, just under a kilometre.[4]
  3. Turn onto Lilley Street, which brings you out on Nudgee Road close to our yard.[4]

It's a suburban walk through residential streets. Carry water in summer, and if you have heavy bags, the bus to Nudgee Road or a taxi from the station is the easier choice.

Which bus runs from the city to Nudgee Road?

Yes. Translink route 301 runs between Toombul and the City via Hendra. Heading out of the city, it leaves from Adelaide Street (stop 24 near Edward Street is one of the stops) and calls at Bowen Hills station before reaching Hendra.[3] The stop to get off at is Nudgee Rd at Lilley Street, stop 34, close to our yard.

  • Weekday times: on Monday 26 October 2026, the first bus left Adelaide Street at 6:47am; buses ran roughly every half hour in the morning and afternoon peaks and about hourly in the middle of the day.[3]
  • Trip time: about 27 to 32 minutes from Adelaide Street to Nudgee Road at Lilley Street, depending on the time of day.[3]
  • Going back: inbound buses toward the City stop at Nudgee Rd near Lilley St, stop 34.[3]

Because the midday buses are an hour apart, check the next departure before you leave so you're not waiting at Adelaide Street.

What about a taxi or rideshare from the city?

For door-to-door travel, particularly with luggage, take a taxi or rideshare. OpenStreetMap's routing from Central station runs out through Fortitude Valley, along Breakfast Creek Road and Kingsford Smith Drive, and then up Nudgee Road to the yard, about 8 km in all.[5] Your driver or app may take another route depending on traffic, and the app shows the fare before you book.

Tell the driver the whole address, 238 Nudgee Road, Hendra QLD 4011, so you're dropped at the right end of Nudgee Road, which is a long road.

How should I time the trip for my pickup?

Pickups and returns are during our opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Also closed: Friday 25 December 2026 (Christmas Day). There are no after-hours pickups or returns.

  • Morning pickups: we open at 8am. On the weekday timetable, a train reaching Hendra at 7:42am or 8:12am, or a bus at Lilley Street around 8:30am, gets you here for an early slot with time to spare.[1][3]
  • Allow for the paperwork. Leave time for the licence check and walking round the car with us before you drive off; our pickup checklist lists what to bring.
  • Returning the car: after a return before 5pm, weekday trains from Hendra back toward the city ran every 30 minutes on the timetable we checked, until just after 8pm.[1]
  • Weekends: we're closed on Saturday and Sunday, so the lighter weekend timetable doesn't affect pickups.

Our Hendra location page has a map as well. Once you have the car, our guide to tolls in Brisbane explains which roads near the city are tolled.
